Face it, just about all of us get them every year. What you may ask? Wallet pictures! You know the pictures your child, grandchild, niece or nephew has taken at school or maybe at a sport or other activity they are involved in. You may carry the current photo in your wallet or display at your desk or somewhere in the house, but what do you do with the rest (previous years?) Throw them away? :gasp:!
Why not make a cute little mini-album? Each year you add a page. Such a nice way to see them grow. (This could be a fun gift for a grandparent or far away family member...just mail them a new page each year to insert into their album)
I made my little mini-album to hold all the shots of my daughter's recital costumes. Each year we add a new page.(Now that she's a bit older and more involved its 2 or 3 pages) It's a simple 6"x6" square album. My covers were made from 2 pieces of white chipboard and each page is made from 2 pieces of cardstock adhered together to make it sturdier. For uniformity I always use white cardstock and the whole album is held together with binder rings...making it easier to add a page each year. If you don't want to make an album from scratch there are some great albums on sale in the CC Store right now. (Pink Paislee & Donna Downey come to mind)
My daughter picked out a dimensional sticker for the cover and from there I traced some chiboard letters for her name, applied a rubon and added a heart with a jeweled brad.
My 1st page is actually a picture I took of her on her First Day of Dance.
Sometimes I add a supporting picture from the recital to the page...
...but mostly I like to keep it simple. Occasionally, just the picture and a few embellishments.
In 2008 she was in two numbers with coordinating costumes, so I made a tw0 page spread...
Last night I added 3 new pages to her book...
(I apologize for the lighting on these pictures...not the best light for taking pictures at 10pm)
Anyway I love looking at this little mini as does my daughter (she's been harping on me to update it...I still have 2 more costumes from this year to get done) Besides looking at it, I find it's a great way to use up little scraps of paper and leftover embellishments from bigger projects.
I hope you liked this idea and you find away to use your wallet photos. As a scrapper I just hate seeing a good photo being shoved in a drawer or (more shocking) thrown away!
Have a great weekend!
Adorable album, Jen! What a nice keepsake.

What a sweet album! I have a TON of wallet sized school pics. What mom doesn't, I guess. Now I have a great idea of what to do with them.
