It's Creative Week at CC, which means that I get to share any creative thing I've been working on lately. My life is usually pretty full of crafty, creative little projects, but these last couple of weeks have found me organizing like you wouldn't believe! With school getting ready to start, I have this list of stuff-that-must-be-finished-before-we-start-school-again. Everyone in my house knows that if they sit still for very long, I'll put them to work with my list, so they are hiding a little, I think. It's funny because once the crazy school routine gets started, I settle into the chaos pretty well, but before it starts, I really do try to get everything all nice and neat and organized. I'll never learn...
This weekend, though, there's something in the air in Central Texas that has me sneezing and coughing and basically looking like the sickest person you ever saw on an allergy commercial - you know, the before-you-take-the-medicine person. Unfortunately, nothing's really helping, and every time I stick my head outside, it starts back up again, so I took a break from all that organizing and sat down to enjoy a little creative therapy. The craftyness didn't help my nose any (it's excruciatingly sore from blowing), but it gave me a little happy I-got-to-make-something-pretty boost, which I really needed.
I pulled out the remnants of my August Cool By The Pool kit and made a few cards with the scraps. One of my favorite cards to make is a design that combines strips of whichever papers I have in front of me, and I made one:
I've made so many of these, but they always look different because the paper scraps are never the same. I always add a machine stitched border to pull the strips together, and on this one, I used an add-on Journal Sprout from Jillibean Soup, a flower from the Cool By The Pool kit, ribbon from my jar of yellow ribbon, and some ancient KI Memories rub-ons that I found in a box of forgotten rub-ons.
Another card I made uses bits and pieces from the Cool By The Pool kit, another add-on Journal Sprout from Jillibean Soup, and an add-on Dear Lizzy felt embellishment from American Crafts. I know the sentiment is pretty unoriginal, but it was so fun to do, and I will make sure to give it so someone who will enjoy it!
I always need thank-you cards, so these will be used quite soon, I'm sure. And getting a little crafty card making done while I'm not feeling all that great is a great alternative to eating an entire box of macaroni & cheese!
Love it Stacey! I do the same - try to get everything organized beforehand, but it soon falls into disarray!
I love your cards! So pretty and bright!

I really like the scrap strips card. I will probably be scraplifting that!
