This month’s challenge: Hidden Journaling
Sometimes I feel like I don’t journal enough. Maybe the message is too personal, maybe I don’t love my handwriting, maybe the journaling would interfere with the overall design… There are millions of reasons why, but journaling will definitely add meaning to your precious keepsakes!
Show us different creative ways you can include hidden journaling in your LOs. It could be a pocket, a card inside an envelope, a pull down tab, a flip note, a peek-a-boo embellishment, the sky is the limit! Wow us with your creativity!
To connect with other scrapbookers and learn from each other, to take your crafting to a new level, and for your chance to win cool prizes!
Start creating today! But DO NOT POST TO YOUR BLOG until October 20th.
- Post your layout on your personal blog on October 20th. The title of your post should be “Coordinates Collections October Blog Hop.”
- Come back to the CC Blog and use Mister Linky at the bottom of the October 20th blog post to add the link to your Hidden Journaling layout. In order to qualify for the prize, you must post your project anytime between 10am EST and 11pm EST on October 20th. Be sure to link to your actual Blog Hop project POST, not just to your blog.
- Come back and chit-chat with everyone in the Blog Hop forum! Take some time to praise your fellow scrappers, discuss anything new you might have learned and provide each other with valuable feedback.
Here are two sample projects I created to help get you started:
I created this LO using a few sheets of Crate Paper included in the gorgeous Golden Rule kit and some add-on chipboard stickers. I really love the distressed colors and the fabric-like texture of these papers! The notebook border was created using an EK Success border punch. I really wanted to journal but I knew I'd be embarrassed if someone else read about how I planned to follow my daughter's bus to school. My neighbors persuaded me not to follow through with my plan but I couldn't help the water works! You see this is not something I want everyone to know (LOL) so to hide my journaling I created a tag using the red cardstock included in the kit (I did ink it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to match the distressed look of the other elements in the LO). The pull is just a chipboard button from the collection. Here's a closer look:
Next, I have a LO created with the super cute Black Magic kit. This was the first time I used Jillibean Soup paper and I love it! It's just perfect for playful LOs!
This kit is loaded with goodies! Everything you see here is included in the kit. Jillibean Soup's Journal Sprouts were the perfect place to add my journaling but I didn't want my hideous handwriting to ruin the LO so I created a peek-a-boo embellishment by combining two of the journaling spots with a glittered brad. The top one swivels to reveal the journaling. Here's a close-up:
Now it's your turn! And don't worry, if you don't have a blog, you can still take part in all the fun. Simply upload a photo of your project to the CC gallery and use that link. We can’t wait to see your creations!
A lucky participant will be selected to win a FREE Coordinates Collections kit. The winning LO will be posted in the Coordinates Collections message board and in our blog. Good luck everyone!
