Flavors of Fall

Happy Halloween! I hope you're enjoying some cooler weather, along with the ghosts and ghouls out this weekend. Since the last few weeks have been full of pumpkins, monsters and other Halloween fare, I thought I'd focus on some of the other aspects of fall today, with some projects I created with the Apple Cider collection from Imaginisce. There are some elements of this collection in the Festive Feast kit that will be shipping soon (have you ordered yours???), including this awesome woodgrain paper that I used as the background for this layout:

 

I also love using Kraft paper backgrounds with the colors in these papers, so I created this layout with some hidden journaling in the little Maya Road envelope:

And it's impossible to think about Fall without thinking of leaves, so I created this little "pick-me-up" card:

I cut the trunk and branches freehand from the backing cardstock of some of the stickers. I love when the backing looks as good as the paper -- it's like getting a bonus sheet of gorgeous paper!

Since we're talking apples (well sort of!), I thought I'd wrap-up with my favorite recipe for homemade applesauce. It's easy (once the apples are peeled) and the flavor is SO amazing. It's a perfect side for Thanksgiving or Christmas meals, or just a great healthy snack for the whole family.

Homemade Applesauce

6-8 apples, cored and peeled
1 cup (or less) sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cup water

Combine all ingredients in a crock-pot and cook on low 3-5 hours. Adjust seasonings to taste. Serve warm or cold.
