Happy Wednesday to you all! Yes, I know my post title is a bit corny; but the buttons were my inspiration. I have quite the collection of buttons; however, I rarely use them and when I do most of the time it's the same old, same old. A center for a flower! I love seeing them clustered in small groups on a page..yet I'm rarely pleased with this result on my own pages.
So, on Monday I was staring at the small colorful buttons that came with the "Frosty Porch" kit. I didn't use any of them in my projects and was about to put them into my button container. But how could I...they are so bright and beautiful. I actually thought of colorful ornaments on a tree. I now had an idea, what a relief! (Truthfully I was scared...I had nothing for this post and I only had 2 days until it was due!)
I used some of the papers from the "Frosty Porch" kit and add on pattern papers(since I hadn't put everything away yet)...
I made the Christmas tree by cutting triangles from Basic Grey's Nice(addon) & Blizzard(kit) and used a small scrap of Crate Paper "candy" (the brown side) for the trunk. I lightly tacked the triangles down with glue and then stitched up & down the center several times, then I adhered the trunk and stitched around it with my machine. (Stitching down the center of the triangles allowed the ends to curl up for dimension) I scattered buttons from the kit & my stash across the tree for "ornaments". A new use for buttons (at least for me) and I am pleased with the results.
Love this LO, starting with the clever theme and photos. I know what you mean about buttons. I like the way they look -- just not when I use them -- and you had a great idea to use them on the tree. They look terrific!

What a GREAT idea for buttons!! And I love your tree...going to have to lift that idea! I have a tendency to just keep collecting my buttons and not use them so this is a welcome inspiration!
