...and may all your Christmases be white!
Merry Christmas to all of you who are celebrating today. And no matter what holiday you are celebrating this season, I hope you are enjoying a wonderful time with all the people and things you love the most.
As many of you know, I live in a place where snow is a very rare occurrence. But I love the idea of snow. There are few things more beautiful and serene than watching from your window as the snowflakes drift from the sky toward the ground. So I created my own "white Christmas" this year. On paper anyway.
I had these Basic Grey rub-ons left over from my Frosty Porch kit, and I couldn't bear to see an almost-full sheet of them just lying around.
I also had a half-sheet of the Bazzill Diamond Bling cardstock from the kit, so I decided to experiment a little. I applied the white rub-ons to the white cardstock to create a tone-on-tone effect.
Then I got out my mists. I used about two sprays of Maya Mist in Hydrangea Blue lightly over the top. Then I patted off the excess with paper towels. I wasn't completely happy with the way the rub-ons were showing through the mist, so I got out my adhesive eraser and rubbed in small circles over the top of each rub-on. And it softened the coverage, so I ended up with this:
Be aware that this will stain your adhesive eraser (see the tip of mine in the photo above), but it won't ruin it. I tested it on white paper and it doesn't transfer the color...the rubbings are just darker.
I applied Diamond Stickles to some of the snowflakes to give them a little sparkle, and I inked the edges with Distress Ink in Broken China (all-time favorite ink color -- if you don't have it, you NEED it!). Then I added a Snowflake Crystal from Imaginisce (that I heat-embossed with blue embossing powder) and a sheer ribbon and "happy new year" sentiment. I also applied some of the gems that came with the rub-ons.
Another angle...
And the finished card (the photo doesn't quite do it justice, but oh well)...
Many wishes for a safe and happy new year to all of you!
What a pretty card! I love what you did with the rub-ons and the mist.
