Hey, CC family. Today I'm sharing my first Project Calendar Creations layout. In January, I showed you the title page I created for my album, which is going to be about my son, Ryan's first year. I'm a bit behind schedule (I think everyone knows why) but I hope it doesn't seem too odd to see a January page in March. I'll catch up before the end of the year, I promise!
So, anyway ... here's my first page for my album. These show photos of Ryan from just minutes after he was born to a few hours later. Journaling talks about how he struggled in his first hours of life. This was a difficult page for me. I had forgotten that he almost didn't survive birth, that he had to be in the NICU on oxygen. The irony that he spent both his first and his last hours fighting to breathe ... well, I cried a lot while creating this.
Because I used so many photos and wanted to have a large block for journaling, I kept the background simple, with a piece of EP's "Life is Good" paper and a 6x12 piece from Memory Works "Life Documented" kit. The 6x12 piece gave me just the right amout of both journaling space and a punch of color from the vertical strips. I kept embellieshments simple, too, adding two round, layered flowers made from the MW kit papers, a bit of red pp from February's "Song Birds" kit, and a button.
To complete the page, I added a Jenny Bowlin butterfly, a couple of Prima flowers, another button, plus a Memory Works journaling sticker. Cosmo tiny alpahs and BG Micro Mono alphas complete the journaling, for Ryan's name and the month.
Lastly, I had to find a spot to put some little hearts. Ryan loved my punches, especially the heart punch, and punched dozens of them, maybe even hundreds! So my little personal tribute to him was to add some red punched hearts in the corner.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog post. Love, hugs and happy creating. See you next time!
Gorgeous! This layout is absolutely gorgeous, touching, and sweet!

You made me cry too!!! My son LOVES helping with my scrapbooking too. He loves the punches too and he loves to put the adhesive on everything. Scrapbooking is OUR THING that we do together. Bless your heart.

Awesome! Love the layout, the photos of your sweet boy being the focal point and not the embellishments (although I like them too). TFS
