Yellowstone recap cont

The Canyon area of Yellowstone is home to the 'Grand Canyon of Yellowstone' with an amazing waterfall and canyons.

 

We took a hike to Mystic Falls with an overlook viewing the Old Faithful geyser valley.  We couldn't have timed our arrival at the overlook any better as we got to see the eruption of the geyser that only happens about every 90 minutes.

 

Our day ended with a sighting of a GRIZZLY BEAR about 30 feet off the road!

 

I don't have a picture of this event, but we were able to witness 4 wolves trying to capture a baby buffalo....we don't know the outcome as they went behind a small mountain and we couldn't see what happened....that is wildlife at it's best!

From Yellowstone we traveled south to Jackson Hole and have spent two days hiking the Tetons.  We wish the clouds would go away so we could see the tops of the Teton peaks, but they are still stunning nonetheless!

 

Well, home by Monday and then it's back to work and daily routine!  CC emails and orders will be top priority next week....thanks for everyone's patience!

Yellowstone recap

Well, I never had the time to do any more updates about the trip as the days started early and ended late and I was too tired to even turn on the computer at the end of the day!  

Day 2 we woke up to snow!  About 2-3 inches so we decided to stay in the town of West Yellowstone and go to the Grizzly/Wolf discovery center instead of venturing into the park with the bad weather.  The bears at this center are there because their mothers were killed.  The wolves came from a place where they breed wolves for movies and commercials and they did not make the cut.  We saw bears do amazing things, and the wolves were also fun to watch!

 

We ventured back to Yellowstone for the next four days and saw spectacular sites!  In the Mammoth area at the terrace geysers it was cold and stormy and the steam made for some spooky shots!

 

Of course Yellowstone is home to wild animals....we were lucky to see a big horned sheep, which is usually elusive in the park, as well as an impressive buck elk!

The CC offices are closed because I'm on vacation!  I don't usually post personal things on this blog, but thought it would be fun to share a bit of my summer vacation in Yellowstone! 

Day 1 was visiting Old Faithful, geysers and hot pots....the famous stuff Yellowstone is known for.  It was a cloudy, cold day with intermittent rain, but we still had fun:

No More Snow Please!

I know this post isn't related to CC at all, but I had to share my BIG STORM with you!  Yesterday I woke up to a FOOT of snow...after getting the kids off to school DH taught me to use the snowblower and within an hour I had the snow cleared in the yard.  (DH could not do the snowblower as he is down with a bum shoulder and having surgery tomorrow).  Well it continued to snow all day and by 5 pm there was another FOOT of snow.  This time my teenage boys were home to help clear the snow!
